Subject: Glen Towery's MGB GT V8
I took these
pictures of Glen when he was visiting last November (2006). I thought you
should have these since he is one of the people that helps make these
conversions happen. You will never meet a nicer guy than Glen. As I said, he was
visiting, well, actually he delivered a late model wire wheel rear-end to me.He
had balanced the nose of the rear-end and had bolted the flange to the place the
hitch ball normally sits. I wish I had taken a picture of it as it was just
really a clever way to transport it. He lives in Delaware, I live in Oklahoma.
And this is his 2nd visit. We just really hit it off. I expect to see him again
probably in June. I will get more pictures of whatever he is driving
then.
His car has a 3.5l
Rover with the Rover 5 speed and a 3.07 rear-end. You might notice the Rover is
fuel injected. As you might expect, it's a real sleeper. you can't tell it's a
V8 until he pops the hood. The interior and exterior of the car were nice. His
wheels are the Shelby Saab 15" minilite style wheels.
One notable issue is
that while he was visiting, we just happened to catch a stoplight just right and
we took advantage of it. I can say that I beat him, but, I was really surprised
that I wasn't further ahead by the time we let up (somewhere in the 90-100mph
range) I spent a ton of money building my engine, Glen claims his power is due
to the injection, maybe so. Anyway, I was surprised...
I asked Glen
if sending these photos was ok. He said yes. He also wanted me to be sure
to tell you how well the fuel injection worked and how much room it doesn't
take. As I mentioned to him today, I think the FI is a fine deal, but if the
brain dies, you are stuck. With my Holley, I can get parts almost anywhere.
