Drivetrain
Triumph 3.0L V8 engine updated with Edelbrock 500cfm four barrel carburetor.
The intake manifold was part of a kit developed by local Kiwi, John Parker,
who for years was spares secretary of our local Triumph Stag club.
Alternator has been relocated to make room for an electric water pump (at bottom, RHS.)
Custom fabricated temperature sensor housing for the electric water pump system.
Electric water pump is mounted below this stock power steering pump.
"Made in the Netherlands, this 123 distributor helps the engine
rev freely to redline without any misfire or vibration."
Bellhousing contructed by marrying cut-down Triumph and Toyota parts.
Toyota W57 5-speed.
Nissan Sylvia R200 rear end, with limited slip differential.
Suspension
Monarch Stags uprated front anti-roll bar.
Spax adjustable shock absorbers.
Monarch Stags control arms. Datsun halfshafts.
Nissan Sylvia R200 rear end.
Interior
"Interior looks standard apart from the center console, which has been tailor
made to house new electric window, electric fan, and heated seat switches."
Stock seats, but with electric seat heaters added.
Pioneer stereo.
"This control unit came with the Davies Craig electric water pump. It can be programmed
to come on at various temperatures, but during the summer I use an override switch so
it runs full time. It also features a diagnostic capability."
Homemade wind deflector.
Bodywork - In Process
"The spoiler was bought from Rimmers in the UK but was far from a perfect fit."
"The panel beater spent a week refabricating the unit to mate with the front cowling."
In lieu of the car's original Triumph Carmine Red, this is Lexus' Cherry Red Metallic.
It's similar to original, except more pearlescent.
Exterior
Dechromed and de-seamed hardtop.
Soft top.
Here it's easy to compare Barry's largely de-chromed Stag with an unmodified example.
And here's a similar comparison of rear end treatments.
Close up of front grille, recessed about 30mm which is the maximum possible
without modifying or relocating the battery tray.
Registration plate is a special-order size to match the front panel.
Honda S2000 electric mirrors, painted body color.
Stainless steel sports exhaust.
