McLoed hydraulic throw-out bearing. Wenco driveshaft. |
Rear axle: | stock. |
Suspension: | stock (front and rear). |
Other Chassis Mods: | Minor frame adjustment (visible in the pictures) moving a lateral brace
to make room for the new engine's deeper stance. |
Body/Interior: | Replaced all trim panels, carpet, and the plinth. Replaced the four pull
levers for heat/blower/choke with rotary air conditioning controls.
Vintage Air air condition system. |

Comments: | Engine seemed readily available when we started, but Ford stopped making
them available via their "crate motors" program and the car went out of
production. A racing series of midget cars had standardized on the engine,
which made RWD conversions available for the normally FWD/transversally
mounted I4, but it also ate up supply! Thankfully Tri-C located a wrecked
low mileage SVT Focus and we had ourselves a donor car. |
