Note: Bob is unique in the American MG world, owning both a factory MGB GT V8 and a roadster conversion.
Both have been extensively modified to a high degree of performance. A native Englishman, Bob thus has
the opportunity to partake in the MG V-8 scene in both the U.K. and the U.S. He is extremely knowledgeable
with both the factory cars and V8 conversions. Bob's V8 conversion was featured in Issue III Volume 1 of

How It Was Done
Engine Mods: | SD1 10.2:1 pistons, Rover Vitesse valves, Piper cam, flowed heads,
balanced crankshaft, rods and clutch. Edelbrock intake manifold with
650cfm double pumper Holley 4 bbl carburetor. Lumenition ignition
system. Tested at 178 bhp at rear wheels. |
Cooling: | V8 radiator, temperature switch, and fans. V8 oil cooler and remote filter. |
Exhaust: | Mike the Pipe complete 2 7/8" system, single muffler.. |
Transmission: | Rover SD1 5-speed. |
Brakes: | standard V8. |
Tires/Wheels: | 195/60 x 14 Avon tires on 6J x 14 Minilite wheels. |
Suspension: | Front - British Leyland Special Tuning lowered, uprated springs,
Ron Hopkinson anti-roll bar, 30% uprated Armstrong shock absorbers.
Rear - V8 competition springs, Spax tubular shock absorbers, Ron
Hopkinson anti-roll bar. |
Rear End: | 3.07:1, MGB carrier must be machined to take 3.07 c.w. & p. - bigger
flange for nose of differential, Rover 3500 driveshaft or modified MGB GT V8 one. |
Instruments: | 140mph calibrated speedo (large to suit 1978 dashboard), V-8 rev counter (ditto),
Moto-Lita steering wheel, air horns. |
