Don and Joan Nicholls's 1977 MGB with 1995 Camaro 3.4L V6 engine

as published in British V8 Newsletter, Volume XV Issue 2, September 2007

Owner: Don and Joan Nicholls
City: Caledonia, Ontario
Model: 1977 MGB roadster
Engine: Chevrolet Camaro 3.4L V6
Conversion completed by: previous owner

Engine: Chevrolet Camaro 3.4L V6 (installed with Classic Conversions Engineering pulleys, mounts, etc.)
Intake: Offenhauser intake manifold and Holley 390cfm carburetor.
Ignition: stock Chevrolet.
Cooling: stock MGB.
Exhaust: Classic Conversions Engineering 3-into-1 headers. Single muffler.
Transmission: Camaro T5 5-speed.
Clutch: MGB master cylinder. Camaro slave cylinder.
Rear Axle: stock MGB (3.909:1).
Front Susp.: polyurethane bushings. Anti-sway bar.
Rear Susp.: polyurethane bushings. Tube shock conversion. Anti-sway bar.
Brakes: stock MGB.
Wheels/Tires: polished Datsun 280Z wheels with 195/70R14 tires. The wheels are held on with modified Weld shouldered wheel nuts.
Body: rubber-to-chrome bumper conversion. (Note: The car has a set of Moss rubber-to-chrome-bumper conversion springs installed, but they haven't settled completely yet. They may have to be re-worked to get the car to sit a little lower.) The hood and trunk gas cylinders were supplied by LeBar Co, both work excellently.
Interior: a Vintique heat/cool unit has been installed under the dash (behind the center console), although air conditioning hasn't been hooked up yet. And, of course, us Canadians have to have our Tim Horton's so I fabricated the dual coffee cup holder from a piece of oak and stained it.
Instruments: VDO gauges.
Weight: 2246 pounds.
Performance: with this motor, transmission and axle combination, normal driving yields approximately 27 MPG.
Completed: 2005.
Miles Driven: 4000, as of the British V8 2007 meet.
Comments: I'm going to look at installing a "puller" fan behind the radiator as opposed to the two factory units as I think it could run a few degrees cooler. Our plans also call for a roll bar with a wind deflector mounted on it, an upgraded wiring kit, and possibly a nice tan convertible top as well.
